Former president George W Bush urged his country to continue supporting Africa as he arrived in Ethiopia to promote US-funded projects fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and cervical cancer. Bush, who is on a regional tour, said the US should “not retreat from the world”. “It’s also important for the American people to know if we don’t continue to support people who have HIV or are dying because of mosquito bites more and more people will die,” he told reporters in Addis Ababa. Bush and his wife visited a hospital supporting people living with HIV/AIDS and providing cervical cancer screening and also toured a compound where people living with HIV/AIDS receive home-based care.
