At least nine people died this year from January to April in Caála District, central Huambo Province, victims of malaria, out of about 9,555 cases diagnosed with the illness during the same period, at the local hospital.
The information was provided by the head of Health department based in Caála District, Albino Dumbi Ernesto, on the sidelines of an act that served to celebrate the World Malaria Day and the holding Health fair hosted by Caála village.During the fair, were distributed 80 mosquito nets impregnated with insecticide. A mobile clinic was set up in the site, having been registered 42 medical appointments for adults and 52 for children with less than five years old and 24 prenatal consultations.In 2009, at least 37,302 cases of malaria were diagnosed in Caála District.
