POVERTY: Angola: Protracted armed conflict considered as cause of poverty

1/18/11

Luanda – The long period of armed conflict, scarcity of infrastructures, national economy fragility and poor essential services in the fields of education, vocational training, health were considered as the factors that contributed to the high rate of poverty in the country.
This was said to Angop by the Planning Minister, Ana Dias Lourenço, while addressing the “national forum for the implementation of municipal integrated rural development poverty eradication programmes”, which is happening in Luanda.
According to her, the meaningful reduction of the poverty framework in Angola requires a continuity and intensification of actions well outlined.
The event, which is happening in Luanda Belas conference centre, under the motto”Fight against poverty, a commitment of the Angolan government”, is being promoted by the Civil Office of the Presidency of Republic.
The forum is being attended by MPs, government officials, governors and administrators.
