POVERTY: Pakistan: government has been utilising every possible resources for poverty alleviation

KARACHI: The government has been utilising every possible resources for poverty alleviation, women empowerment and children rights protection.
This was stated by Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon while talking to a delegation of Human Rights Protection International led by Naveed Ahmed Advocate here on Saturday. The minister pointed out that for poverty alleviation, agricultural land had been distributed free among peasants. Memon said several other poverty alleviation programmes had also been introduced at union council level, besides the government had initiated the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Support Programme and the Benazir Behan Basti.
The minister pointed out that these programmes had started yielding positive results.
Memon further said that the First Women’s Bank and Women Police Stations were also established during the tenure of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The leader of the delegation apprised the minister of the activities of his organisation.
